Goal 2026: The Business Playbook

Market Smart (Stay Compliant, Stay Visible)

As the summer of 2026 approaches, Smithville businesses are getting excited to promote specials, watch parties, and that "global tournament" energy. This guide is designed to help you capture that momentum while staying on the right side of trademark protections.

The Goal: Be Discoverable, Clear, and Compliant

You don't need official logos to win this summer. You just need to be visible to the thousands of new eyes on the Northland.

What You CAN Do (Smart + Safe)

You can absolutely market around the spirit of the season using generic soccer and welcoming themes. Lean into these safe phrases:

  • “Summer Soccer Specials”

  • “Welcome the World to Smithville”

  • “Celebrating the Beautiful Game”

  • “The Northland’s Home for the Summer Games”

Pro-Tip: Decorate with generic soccer balls, neutral flags, and local Smithville pride. Focus your marketing on what you do best: your food, your unique services, and your hometown hospitality.

What to AVOID (Stay Protected)

To remain compliant and avoid any legal "red cards," steer clear of using:

  • Official tournament marks, logos, slogans, or hashtags.

  • Official national team crests (e.g., the official England or Argentina team logos).

  • Phrases that imply an "Official Partnership" with the tournament.

  • Official event schedules in your commercial advertising.

Your 3-Part Marketing Plan for June & July

  • Be Easy to Find (Visibility): Update your Google Business Profile and website now. Use keywords people actually search while traveling, like "Best BBQ near Smithville Lake" or "Quick auto repair Northland."

  • Be Easy to Choose (Clarity): Don't overwhelm visitors. Offer 1–2 "Signature Picks"—a fan-favorite bundle, a featured dish, or a simplified service package.

  • Be Easy to Share (Word-of-Mouth): Create one "photo-worthy" moment in your shop—a fun display or a "Local Pride" backdrop. Encourage visitors to tag your business when they post their Smithville adventures.

💡 Pro-Tip: The "Long Play" in the Northland

Three of the teams basing their operations in the Kansas City metro are top-tier global contenders. If they advance deep

into the bracket, those teams, their massive media delegations, and their fans will remain in our region well beyond the final

match played at the stadium on July 11.

The Strategy: Plan for a full two-month season (June 11 – July 19). The economic ripple effect won't end until the final whistle of the championship match in mid-July.

One Action to Take Today:

Write your summer headline and make it compliant.

  • Example: “Summer Soccer Specials — Proud to Welcome the World to Smithville.”

  • Then, build one simple offer underneath it (a "Tournament Trio" appetizer or a "Game-Day Tune-Up" service). Done.
