About Our Chamber
Twenty minutes north of downtown Kansas City is the hidden gem of Smithville, Missouri.  Alive with quaint retailers, mouth-watering eateries and a 7,000+ acre recreational lake, Smithville is a town filled with charm and bustling with activity.  With beautifully maintained parks, walking trails, swimming beaches and a picturesque downtown, Smithville is a prime location for families to live, work and play.

Being in a more rural setting with wildlife, trees and the lake is one of the things Smithville residents appreciate about living in this close-knit community.  Everything you need can be found within city-limits and in true small-town fashion, the downtown Heritage district with one-of-a kind shops and restaurants is at the town’s core. In addition to retailers and restaurants, Smithville’s numerous area events help promote a true sense of community.  From the annual Octoberfest celebration to free concerts and family activities during Hot Summer Nights, Smithville offers its citizens ample entertainment options while staying close to home.  Additional community events draw crowds from all parts of the city and include the Saturday Farmers Market (June – Sept), Merchants Spring Fling, Kid’s Fishing Derby, annual Easter Egg Hunt, Merchants Holiday Open House & Shop Hop and much more.  There is always something on the city calendar for residents and visitors to take advantage of.

A real sense of community is found in Smithville and is felt from the top-rated school district to the local retail outlets. There are opportunities for the young ranging from soccer to softball, baseball to football as well as for the young at heart with 36 holes of golf and mountain bike trails. People respect and help each other and nurture a sense of belonging that’s hard to find outside the city limits.  The combination of it’s diversity of activities, amenities, people and ideas, as well as the cohesiveness and caring small town spirit makes Smithville a town many are proud to call home.
